Dr. Knych is a clinical veterinary pharmacologist who studies pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic relationships of drugs in performance horses and pain management and treatment of inflammation in horses.  The Knych lab also studies drug metabolism, identifying and characterizing equine drug metabolizing enzymes as well as investigating the effects of polymorphisms in the genes encoding these enzymes and their effects on drug clearance and pharmacologic effects. The lab has a dedicated exercised (treadmill) research herd that is used for in vivo studies and a fully equipped analytical (mass spectrometry) and molecular pharmacology lab.
