Area of Research

• I have always been interested in the host-pathogen relationship, and the innate immune system.  Because I am a clinician, I usually approach questions from a clinical point of view and am most excited by research which is clinically applicable.  My current work is leaning more and more toward small ruminant infectious disease, with a focus on goats, because our knowledge of goat diseases lags behind that of our other veterinary species.  I am also interested in ways of manipulating or augmenting the innate immune system to reduce disease and antimicrobial use.
