Bio

Area of Research

  • I have diverse experiences in veterinary infectious diseases diagnostics and the connections between infectious diseases in animals and humans. My training as a veterinary clinical microbiologist fits well with my research interests and allows me to gain perspective on the laboratory challenges in diagnosis of infectious disease. I have advanced training in infectious disease diagnostics and have optimized diagnostic tests for an array of animal and human pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, prions, and parasites. My research focus is primarily  the characterization of molecular epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance in veterinary pathogens, with an emphasis on uropathogenic E. coli in companion animals and other shared animal/human pathogens.
